What is hypnosis really like?

You cannot be hypnotised against your will!

A hypnotic state is as simple as when you reading a book or watching a film …it's the point when you have cut out external stimuli and have lost yourself. That's your subconscious taking over…similar to perhaps when you can’t remember driving two junctions on the motorway because you were ‘miles away’.

Thankfully it’s not what you’ve seen on TV or heard from a friend who may have clucked like a chicken at a hypnosis stage show!

Hypnosis uses the mental abilities of the mind to safely bring about the changes you are looking for. Under hypnosis the mind relaxes and the electrical activity of the brain moves out of the rhythm of everyday consciousness and assumes the same rhythm as when we are asleep. Please be aware you won’t be asleep!

What is the therapeutic side to hypnosis all about?

Achieving this state in a controlled environment under hypnosis allows you to focus away from your present-day reality and towards your thoughts, images, feelings and motivations.

Hypnosis can happen naturally many times throughout the day, it feels very much like daydreaming but is more focused and you would feel more relaxed. It is like being awake yet in a body which is asleep. In other words it is a combination of a still, clear, attention free mind and a body that is totally relaxed. It allows a sense of well-being and yet reinforces the will to achieve goals.
